Returning from his working day, the fisherman places his catch dividing it as he does every morning, in the various boxes and then takes it to the market. My name is Carlotta Maria Cicerone; I am a 17 year old girl, born on 19 October 2001 in Tivoli, but I have always lived in Rome.
Since I was a child I have had a passion for the arts, deepening my interests in painting and theater. In fact, already at the age of five my first passion blossomed: that of theater; I found myself treading the theatrical stages of the parish recreation centers and then moving on to work at the age of 8 at the musical "Fame-Saranno famous", with a real school of musicals. Among the various works brought to the stage I delighted in doing Shakespearean roles such as Juliet of "Romeo and Juliet" and in the "Hamlet" in a comic version, from moving to Plato with "I due Menecmi" up to the age of 15 years playing Sandy in the musical "Grease", staged at the Marconi theater in Rome. My love for theater also led me to experience as an assistant director and as a collaborator for the creation of costumes for the "Frozen" musical, which was staged in Turin at the Valdocco theater. Also in Turin I collaborated in the sets and costumes of the musical "Cinderella-If we could turn back time" with the company "Lost Children" at the Q77 theater. All these experiences brought me closer to undertake creative studies, choosing the Sarandì artistic high school in Rome as a school. This year I find myself attending my third school year in the Figurative address.

Long Navigational Gold Medals
The Gold Medals of Lunga Navigazione di Viareggio, as commonly and affectionately called by the Viareggini officially and formally reconstituted in January 1997, have been listed for years among the Associates registered in the Register of the Municipality of Viareggio. From the beginning, the Gold Medals have carried out their voluntary work not only for the enhancement of the seafaring tradition of Viareggio, but they have been committed to addressing the themes and new problems inherent in the Mondo del Mare complex (for the beginnings we remember the photographic exhibition "Gente di Mare" accompanied by the publication of the homonymous Catalog in 1998. They were often the ones who promoted meetings, debates, events on the sea and the seafaring, not only with a look to the past, but also with attention all new to the world of youth and school, collaborating with many associations. We remember the constitution of the People of the Sea Award, strongly desired by the Secretary Zeffiro Rossi, tireless creator of many initiatives, such as the restoration of the tombstone in the Municipal Cemetery, which recalls the Viareggini sailors who died in Golfo Aranci in 1896, as well as the replanting of the "Mirto del Marinaio" in Piazza Manzoni which, in collaboration with the municipal administration, has renewed and revived one of the most beautiful and delicate traditions of the Viareggina sailing ship. The publication of the Book of dedications, edited in collaboration with the Municipal Administration on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the opening of the Museum. Only from 2016 to today have been carried out more than ninety events, of different value and thickness, characterized by generous assistance from the volunteers of the Gold Medals.
A separate chapter covers the privileged and elective relationship with the local Coast Guard, which has entrusted the custody of the Gold Medals with more than two thousand navigation booklets of the Viareggio Maritime Compartment, as well as the Official Register of Embarkations and Disembarkations of the Port of Viareggio. Following the disappearance of Secretary Zeffiro Rossi in February 2017, the Gold Medals, under the guidance of the new Secretary Sirio Orselli have: updated the inventory of the finds, continuing the work started by the late Zeffiro Rossi; put in order all the paper documentation of the birth of the Maritime Museum; restored the full usability of the ground floor and upper floors of the maritime museum with the financial help of the Artiglio Foundation and the Gold Medals themselves. Finally, the Gold Medals were, proudly, the active link between the Municipal Administration and the Tayar Family for the complete restoration, by the Cantieri Del Carlo, of the goiter that belonged to our Mario Tobino. Following participation in a tender launched by the Municipality of Viareggio, the Gold Medals obtained the official management of the Maritime Museum until January 2020.
The old fish market
Already in 1908 the need had arisen for the creation of a fish market according to the creation of the Viareggio Maritime Compartment, which was decreed in that year and became operational on January 1, 1909. To this end, the Municipality acquired a warehouse from private individuals, along the East Canal. However, only in 1933 was this structure the object of a complete and organic adaptation and restructuring project, by Eng. Carlo Riccomini. Only in 1935 the project was definitively approved. The works were officially completed on 28 August 1938 and on 13 April 1939 the necessary testing was carried out by the architect Fantini. After the war in 1950 the premises of the market were again renovated and partially rebuilt with the addition of the rooms reserved for the caretaker of the structure.
After intense activity in the mid-1980s, the market was abandoned for the new fish market and the old structure was used to store lost items. In 1998 the Pro Museo della Marineria Toscana Association, established on the initiative of Commander Francesco Sargentini, resumed the ancient project of the establishment of the Maritime Museum, already advanced since 1920 on the occasion of the celebrations for the first centenary of the elevation of Viareggio in the city. The Municipality of Viareggio finally accepted this project and the structure was renovated again for museum purposes with works completed in 2003. The museum was therefore set up with finds from the Viareggio navy under the direction of Commander Flavio Serafini, in which all participated the Viareggini. Finally, the "Alberto Gianni" Maritime Museum in memory of the chief diver of the Artiglio was inaugurated on December 7, 2006.
